Happy Spring! We are closing out the last few weeks of our homeschool year and I have compiled a list of no screen spring activities for kids! My kiddos enjoy their fair share of cartoons, and they save my sanity sometimes, but this time of year we try to be outside or active as much as possible. It can be difficult to come up with screen time activities so I thought I would share a few ideas that are easy to incorporate into your day. I hope you enjoy these tips and let me know what you would add to my list!
Water day-spend the day playing outside at the water table, running through the sprinkler, or spraying each other with the water hose.
Have a paint & snack day-set up a painting station with white canvases, paints, and brushes. Find an inspiration painting and enjoy snacks while you paint as a family.
Park & picnic-find a fun local park and pack a picnic lunch to share. Bonus points if your park has a splash pad especially as it warms up. Here in Knoxville, we are blessed with a lot of great parks and splash pads.
Library trip-take a trip to your local library and find some fun Spring/Summer inspired books. Most libraries have events for kids every week, especially during Summer break.
Create a scavenger hunt-this can take place indoors or outdoors. List a few items for your kiddos to search for and once all items are found, celebrate with a special treat!
Build a fort-pull out quilts, pillows, and all items they will need to create the perfect fort to play in.
Plant flowers or a small garden-depending on your space, you can all pitch in and plant a few flowers in pots or take on a small garden together.
Make "thinking of you bags" for friends who may need a pick me up. This is a great activity to teach kids the importance of random acts of kindness.
Sidewalk chalk fun-take some sidewalk chalk outside and let everyone cover the driveway in beautiful creations.
At-home field day-pull out balls, racquets, yard games, etc to have a family field day in your backyard. Invite friends over to join in on the fun!
Craft station-create a craft station full of construction paper, markers, feathers, beads, etc, and have a crafty day. The possibilities are endless with this one. I love going to Michael's and getting their pre-made craft kits.
Board Game & Snacks-pull out all of your favorite board games and arrange bowls with yummy snacks. We love Candy Land, Operation, Zingo, and GoFish!
Plan a playdate-call your best friends and schedule a play-date
Visit local area attractions-A quick Google search will show you what fun things there are to do in your area. Spend a day at the zoo, children's museum, art museum, or the local attractions in your town.
Host an ice cream social-call your best buds and have everyone bring toppings to create the most delicious ice cream sundaes they can come up with.
Find a festival to attend-if you haven't already found a list of local festivals in your area, do so now. You will be surprised at how many festivals have FREE kid's activities.
Keep checking back as I add more ideas and follow along here at The Life of Jordan Noel for all things home, hosting, and happy!
