5 Things I Loved About The Historic Boone Tavern Hotel in Berea, Kentucky

historic boone tavern hotel

I recently stayed in the Historic Boone Tavern Hotel in Berea, Kentucky. I was visiting the area for the Appalachian Writer's Conference and had a great visit. The historic hotel surprised me in the best of ways, and I am afraid I will never want to stay anywhere else after my great experience there. Here are five things I loved about the hotel.

  1. The hotel was clean and welcoming, down to the small touches in the room. I loved the way they preserved the history of the hotel by decorating the rooms with oil paintings, gold finishes, and cozy furniture that looked like it came from the period. I stayed in a room with a king-sized bed complete with a white fluffy comforter, duvet, and many pillows to use. The room featured a small armchair, a wooden desk to sit at and work, a mini fridge, a TV, and a large bathroom. Everything was so clean and comfortable. They even included two bathrobes and slippers for guests to enjoy. Here are a few photos of my room, and you can watch the full-length video tour here.

2. Frost Cafe- The hotel had the best coffee shop downstairs. I so enjoyed walking downstairs to grab a latte before the conference started every morning. Additionally, the coffee was really affordable compared to most coffee shops these days.

3. Plenty To Do Around The Block- I loved that I could park my car and not have to leave the hotel to find fun. On the block of the hotel, there was a coffee shop, artisan shops, and plenty of restaurants to try. There is also a bookstore close by called the Taleless Dog as well as other shops. The hotel itself is right in front of Berea College so it is a bustling little square.

4. Old School Locks & Keys- My old soul loved that the hotel room key was an actual key. In a world where we only use hotel keys that look like credit cards, this was a really lovely detail. The key was attached to a gold circle keyring and it opened a real lock on the big wooden door. It was SO lovely.

5. Great Staff & Conference Space- The staff, conference rooms, and banquet hall were all great. I was pleased with the cozy conference rooms and the staff that served us meals throughout the conference. If you're planning a work retreat, I can't recommend their facilities enough.

If you have any questions about my stay, let me know! You can find their hotel info here. Happy traveling!
